Grantley Adams International Airport (BGI) is a gateway to Barbados as well as an important air transportation hub for the Caribbean as a whole. The airport has undergone major improvements to boost its capacity, amenities and facilities, and is now poised for rapid expansion. Catering for around three million passengers yearly, the terminal now boasts a new spacious and airy design that epitomizes its magnificent location.
Grantley Adams International has been fully revitalized and now boasts some great facilities and amenities for visitors. The terminal has great communication centres, a full-service bank, airline lounges with business and conference capability, excellent duty-free shopping, a spacious restaurant, a relaxing bar and extensive disabled facilities.

Grantley Adams International Airport (BGI) has a simple layout and is extremely easy to get around. Arrivals and Departures are both located on the first floor and connected by a roomy atrium that hosts many of the airport's facilities. The second floor has the restaurant and VIP lounges. Shops, Duty-Free and Retail Outlets
BGI has some great duty-free outlets for both arriving and departing international visitors. Browse through the selections of local handicrafts, clothing, souvenirs, shoes and jewelry for special items for yourself, family or friends. There are also a few regular retail stores selling gifts and last minute items.
Bars, Cafés and Restaurants
BGI has a great restaurant serving local and international cuisine which is located on the mezzanine level of the terminal building. There is also a relaxing bar in the Departures Lounge that caters to those who want light snacks and refreshments before boarding their flight.
Currency Exchange, Communications and Banking Facilities
Grantley Adams International Airport has a full service bank and currency exchange bureau, while the post office can provide assistance with mail and facsimile communication. Each of the three VIP lounges can also help with telecommunications and have computing facilities.
Business and Conference Facilities
Grantley Adams International has adequate business and conference facilities located in the three airline VIP lounges (Club Caribbean, British Airways, BWI West Indies Airlines), which are situated on the mezzanine floor near the restaurant. More extensive conference facilities can be arranged at the Silver Rock Hotel or Bougainvillea Beach Resort, both of which are located very near the airport.
Disabled Facilities
An important part of Grantley Adams International Airport's revamping has led to the inclusion of more comfortable facilities and amenities for disabled visitors. BGI terminal now has a system of ramps and elevators for ease of access as well as modified toilets, telephones and lift controls. There is plenty of convenient parking for the mobility impaired and airport staff are only too willing to help with assistance and wheelchairs, although the later are best organized with your airline prior to departure.
